Notes on This Title
Girl Sex 101 is more an illustrated prose sex education book than a graphic novel, but it includes comic portions and illustrator kd diamond is a comic artist.
The book aims to be trans-inclusive, opening with the assertions that “Not all girls have vulvas, and not all vulvas have girls” (p. 8) and “Unless it’s necessary for me to draw a distinction by using the terms cis, trans, female-assigned, or male-assigned, a girl is a girl is a girl” (p. 12), as well as a glossary that defines trans-relevant terms such as “AFAB & AMAB” and “vulva-owners.”
The non-fiction bulk of the book is interspersed with a fictional narrative about two ex-girlfriends on a road trip.

The first two chapters focus on the stuff that happens before sex, including finding and negotiating with a lover, and this allows Moon to create foundations that the rest of the book rests on.
